Kinship Care
Kinship care is a safe place for children to live when they can’t be with a parent. Kinship care is preferred over other types of alternative care because a child can
be with someone who is familiar to them. It also means children are more likely to remain close to their family, their neighborhood, and their school. Kinship
families provide support and care that children need while their parents work to make it safe for them to return home. Many children go home to their parents. However,
children who cannot return home need to find permanence with another family. Ideally, they find permanence with their kinship family.
